Covercraft and Finish Line Speed Shop Strike Out ALS at SEMA Show

Pauls Valley, OK – Covercraft has teamed up with Finish Line Speed Shop to feature their special build at the 2016 SEMA Show. The seasoned vehicle builders successfully built and displayed the project “Dream Dart” at the 2015 SEMA Show and made the decision then to start a tradition of projects geared towards giving back at the annual event in Las Vegas. Tragically, after returning home from the show in 2015, their good friend Mark Cain of Cain Custom lost his battle with ALS. It was with no hesitation that Finish Line decided to create a vehicle in Mark’s memory for the 2016 SEMA Show and to use this project as a way to give back in the fight to battle ALS. Lyon McClenahan from Finish Line says “Mark was a true car guy and didn’t let ALS stop him. It had afflicted him to the point that he could no longer speak, but there he was at every car show walking around typing on his tablet or writing to communicate”. Mark never hesitated to offer his help with projects and was a local legend in the car community around Bremerton, Washington. “His legacy lives on as we work together to assist other families currently battling this ugly disease”, says McClenahan. ALS or Amytrophic Lateral Sclerosis is more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease and is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that destroys motor neurons. These neurons are among the largest of all nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord and are responsible for sending messages to muscles throughout the body.

The Finish Line Speed Shop 2016 SEMA build is dedicated to help “Strike Out ALS” and will be unveiled in Covercraft’s Booth #23531 in Central Hall on Tuesday, November 1st at 10:00am. The vehicle will be sold in the Spring of 2017 and proceeds from the sale will be donated in Mark’s honor to combat ALS.

What Season Is It Anyway?

Autumn or Fall?

We Should Just Call It Football Season!

Rev up your engine! It is almost that time of year where the sounds of referee whistles fill the air and the leaves begin to change. Time to exchange our wardrobe of summer attire for cool weather gear and start rooting for our favorite teams. Guys and gals we all know this is your favorite time of year, Football Season!

One of the best things about football is tailgating with friends. But, getting there with your food and gear intact can be a challenge. Nothing like showing up at the stadium only to find your bratwurst have made their way to the floorboard and are resting comfortably under the rear seat of your SUV amongst the assorted crumbs and fuzzy things your kids have deposited there. How about forgetting to close the drain on that brand new ice chest which turns the carpet into mush. And, there’s always the overturned charcoal grill in the bed of your pickup that makes for a dirty kickoff.

To make the most of your game day experience, you need to be sure that all your gear stays organized and secure and your vehicle stays protected. Keep that grill in place with a Cargo Bar and the food secure with a Cargo Bar with Net. You’ll be sure that your cargo area stays clean with a Custom Cargo Area Liner and get your seats ready for the long season with a set of custom SeatSaver seat covers.

Be the winner of the tailgate party not the whiner. Get organized, get protected and get the win!

Go Team!

Laborious or Labor-less?

Tips for this busy Holiday

Labor Day. The Holiday celebrating those who work by insisting, “You go! Do something! Something, other than work -before it’s too late!!!! However, it also serves as a great reminder that cooler weather is on the way, football season is here, and the fun in the sun is coming to an end. Some of you may be planning one last trip to your favorite family destination, or preparing for one last spontaneous weekend getaway. We have some helpful tips for you and your family this Labor Day weekend.

Labor Day is what it is, a reminder to take it easy, relax and if not any other day “take the day off” work to prepare yourself or your family and your most prized possessions for the upcoming change in seasons. For many, it is simply a day well spent relaxing off of work. However, for many others it is an extra day to catch up on work.

WEEKEND TRAVEL PLANS: If you are hitting the road this weekend be sure check the air pressure in your tires, top off those fluids, inspect belts and hoses and do an all-around safety check. Pack some emergency items just in case.

PET TRAVEL SAFETY: We all love our pets, something we often forget to think about, is pet safety. While fun and eventful times make for lots of great family moments and memories for the book, we need to remember the importance of safety, for our littlest ones and sometimes biggest family members. Labor Day is expected to be one of the busiest travel days of the year. A lot of families love to travel this time of year, often times they are conflicted with bringing the family pet or leaving him behind at the pet sitter. Be sure to use a quality safety harness if fido is going along for the ride.

The Reviews Are In – WeatherShield HP is a customer favorite.

Product reviews are an important part of online purchasing decisions for today’s consumer. Most people value the input of others who have purchased a product they are interested in and use that information in making a decision to purchase or not purchase an item or service. Hotel room bookings, restaurant reservations, refrigerator purchases and vacation destinations are just some of the more common items you would expect to see reviews for when shopping online. There’s almost always a mixed bag of commentary on customer service, atmosphere, product function and pricing. All of this input is crucial in determining a purchase from a website, especially for big-ticket items. So when we see one of our products garnering the accolades from our valued customers, we just have to share our happiness and gratitude with everyone.

WeatherShield HP, our exclusive High-Performance fabric, has been getting rave reviews on the product page. Reviews like: “Fantastic Cover for the HARSHEST Environments” and “The perfect cover”. These statements and the 5 Star ratings all indicate to us that you agree…WeatherShield HP is a great car cover!

camaro-weathershield=blueOver 20 years ago Covercraft partnered with Nextec Applications, Inc., a technology leader that pioneered a new process for creating performance fabrics used primarily in the outdoor clothing industry.

Through precise polymer placement and special chemistries, they were able to place protective finishes inside the fabric, encapsulating the actual woven fibers to transform ordinary fabric into extraordinary fabric. The encapsulation processes, methods and equipment are protected by more than 50 patents issued or pending in the U.S. and internationally. Working with Nextec’s extensive R&D resources, Covercraft created what is considered the “perfect” fabric for outdoor or indoor vehicle protection. EPIC by Nextec’s encapsulation process delivers all-weather protection, compact packability, easy care, and a soft-to-paint touch without sacrificing breathability. WeatherShield HP is not waterproof but, if kept clean, will shed most water and help prevent dust, dirt, bird droppings and tree sap from reaching the vehicle surface. The breathable properties of the fabric assure that any heat, moisture or condensation under the cover can easily escape.

Back To School

It’s that time of year and we wanted to share a list of guidelines from the National Security Council that focus on some of the most important safety issues for going back to school.

Whether children walk, ride their bicycle or take the bus to school, it is extremely important that they take proper safety precautions. Here are some tips to make sure your child safely travels to school.

A boy on bike and a car on the road

Walking to school

Review your family’s walking safety rules.

Walk on the sidewalk, if one is available. When on a street with no sidewalk, walk facing the traffic.

Before you cross the street, stop and look left, right and left again to see if cars are coming.

Never dart out in front of a parked car.

Practice walking to school with your child. Cross streets at crosswalks when available.

Riding a bicycle to school

Make sure your child always wears his/her helmet when leaving the house.

Make sure helmet is fitted and secured properly.

Teach your children the rules of the road.

Ride on the right side of the road, with traffic, and in a single file.

Come to a complete stop before crossing the street. Walk bike across street.

Riding the bus to school

Go to the bus stop with your child to teach them the proper way to get on and off the bus.

Make sure your children stand six feet away (or 3 giant steps) from the curb.

If your child and you need to cross the street in front of the bus, walk on the side of the road until you are 10 feet ahead of the bus. You always should be able to see the bus driver, and the bus driver always should be able to see you.

Many school-related injuries are completely preventable. Follow these steps to ensure your child’s safety at school.

Preventing backpack-related injuries

Chose a backpack for your child carefully. It should have ergonomically designed features to enhance safety and comfort.

Don’t overstuff a backpack; it should weigh no more than 10 to 20 percent of your child’s body weight.

For example, a child that weighs 60 pounds should carry a backpack no heavier than 12 pounds.

Ask your children to use both straps when wearing their backpack to evenly distribute the weight on their shoulders.

Preventing playground-related injuries

Encourage your child to use playgrounds with a soft surface. Avoid playgrounds with concrete surfaces, as they are too hard if your child falls.

Children under the age of four should use climbing equipment with assistance and adult supervision, and watch older children when they’re climbing, especially on monkey bars.

We know this time of year is often overwhelming and the amount of thought, careful planning and preparation we put into gearing up our students for a healthy transition back to school and its many challenges. We want to remind everyone just how important it is to practice safety precautions and go over them with your children, before you hit the ground running those first weeks. Always be aware of school zones and bus stop locations when you’re driving. Be safe out there!
